Environmental Remediation

Environmental remediation deals with the removal of pollution or contaminants from environmental media such as soil, groundwater, sediment, or surface water. Most commercial projects will require a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment in order to qualify for financing and/ or building permits. Lil Bear Contracting works with Owners, Project Managers and General Contractors to review report findings and establish a program to address the environmental liability.

Lil Bear Contracting has designed and completed multiple remediation programs and partners with experienced professional environmental consultants to ensure that the remediation work is performed according to and adheres to the strict guidelines as established by BC Ministry of Environment. We work efficiently and safely to ensure that your project is back on track as soon as possible.

Soil Remediation

If your property is contaminated and/or the contamination has migrated offsite, it will need to be brought up to Ministry of Environment standards in order to receive a Certificate of Compliance (COC) in order to proceed with permitting. A typical soil remediation project involves:

  • Identifying the size and depth of the impacted area.
  • Assessment of best solution for remediation, typically dig & dispose.
  • Securing area surrounding impacted soils to avoid additional contamination.
  • Excavation of impacted soils.
  • Disposal of impacted soil at a fill site authorized to accept the contamination level of the impacted soil.
  • Import clean structural fill and organic soil to return the property to a natural state.

Lil Bear Contracting provides cost-effective experienced excavation services , always ensuring that all standards are met to protect the Owner, neighbouring properties and the environment.

Underground Storage Tanks

Lil Bear Contracting Corp. has experience in the identification and removal of underground storage tank (UST) and above ground storage tank (AST) that have worn down over time and possibly leaked into the soil or groundwater surrounding the tank. Property owners need to be aware that tank removal companies will provide a certificate confirming tank removal however It is important to keep in mind that this does not mean your property has been remediated as there may be impacted soil surrounding the tank site that may need to be extracted. A basic tank removal certificate is typically not sufficient to satisfy insurance or bank financing purposes. Lil Bear Contracting Corp. works with accredited environmental engineers to provide an environmental report with soil sampling and laboratory analysis confirming that the site is clean.
